"Patristic" Bible Studies

Meet some of our teachers: Popes St Pius X, Leo XIII, John XXIII, John Paul II, St Pius V and St. Ambrose,
St. Theresa of Avila, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, St. Thomas Aquinas

The Goal of our "Patristic" Bible Study is to provide commentary and analysis as much as possible only from Church Fathers, Saints, Blesseds, Popes, Church Councils, and/or Church documents, and/or from commentaries that follow this same “Patristic” model. The purpose is to present Bible commentary that helps us get to heaven not that feeds our intellectual curiosity. We will present commentary from the Patricians and leave the opinions to others.

However, we know that much of the Bible commentary that exists in this day and age is tainted if not corrupted by erroneous opinions that go against what our “Patristic” sources will tell us. The fact that the NAB Catholic Commentary claims Jesus did not say all the beatitudes, that Mary did not say the Magnificat, that the Gospel of John “reflects 4th century anti-Arianism” thereby insinuating the Gospel was still being written in the 4th century are all there for the reading in practically every NAB bible in the world. When confronted with these opinions, a Catholic will be hard-pressed to provide alternatives without substantial study.

So as we put together our topics we can take note of modern scholarship that is often of questionable orthodoxy based on conservatively oriented Catholic views. We can present these opinions along with alternatives that come from our Patristic sources

This will be an online CONTRIBUTORY bible study where all of us can contribute. Examples and initial tools will be available soon. Please keep in mind these tools will progress and improve over the months ahead. Remember we are only just starting out.

To view our online page which is currently underdevelopment Click here but PLEASE keep in mind this tool far from finished. The current example has commentary for the feast of the Transfiguration.

We are also planning to begin more formal bible studies following an established curriculum from the many CUF-Publications that are currently available.

We look forward to having quality guest speakers at many of our meetings and hope to cover topics such as those listed below:
